Description
This class will be available July 15, 2025.
With over three decades of teaching experience, John Whitmore, Ph.D., gives students a completely new perspective on the ground beneath their feet and the sky above their heads. As both a research scientist and a veteran instructor, Dr. Whitmore combines the best of both worlds in this fascinating class. Students will learn about:
- Physical geology, such as rock layers, minerals, erosion, volcanoes, and plate tectonics
- Historical geology, with a focus on both creation science and evolutionary science
- Hydrology, focusing on water, its storage, movement, and usage
- Oceanography, including the physics and chemistry of ocean water, and its interactions with the atmosphere
- Meteorology, and other areas of atmospheric science
- Astronomy, with a study of the solar system, galaxies, and universe
The class uses the textbook The Heavens and Earth, co-written by Dr. Whitmore and three other scientists. It also includes multiple labs with rock kits, fossils, and online programs. Â This unique high school science class will give students the tools both to engage the world around them, but also to strengthen their faith in the Bible and their understanding of God’s creation.
