Why Read Poetry?

Why Read Poetry

Your homeschool students might be wondering, why ready poetry?! Helping them understand that poetry is far more exciting than nursery rhymes might spark an interest.

Wikipedia defines poetry as: literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm.

Poetry has a beautiful history. You might be familiar with the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Iliad and the Odyssey, or Psalms. Maybe your children are most familiar with Dr. Seuss, Robert Frost, Shakespeare, or Maya Angelou. Regardless of your poetry knowledge, we encourage you to start reading poetry together.
