Develop your student’s Christian worldview by wrestling with consequential ideas of history in this challenging introductory survey using video lectures and primary sources.
Introductory videos on each major philosopher by R.C. Sproul from his popular Consequences of Ideas series.
Readings from each philosopher and from John Frame’s monumental History of Western Philosophy to reinforce a Christian worldview of what you're reading.
A mixture of assignments, articles, quizzes and research projects to reinforce learning.
We’ve put this course together because of the rise of ideology over truth in the public square, and because we knew the best way for students to get a hold of powerful ideas is to send them to the actual sources with a bit of background.
The course would be an excellent capstone for upperclassmen who want to put together all the pieces they’ve accumulated across disciplines like science, literature, history, and art. They will come out of the survey more informed about the ideas that form the world they are entering, and to “destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ…” (2 Corinthians 10:5, ESV)
