Develop your student’s Christian worldview by wrestling with consequential ideas of history in this challenging introductory survey using video lectures and primary sources.
We put this course together because of the rise of ideology over truth in the public square. We think the best way for students to understand these powerful ideas is to let them read the actual authors, then provide wise Christian commentary to help explain them.
The course would be an excellent capstone for high school students who want to put together all the pieces they’ve accumulated across disciplines like science, literature, history, and art. They will come out of the survey more informed about the ideas that shape our world. Like the Apostle Paul, we want them to “destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ…” (2 Corinthians 10:5, ESV)
Introductory videos on each major philosopher by R.C. Sproul from his popular Consequences of Ideas series.
