Using in a School or Co-op?

Description

Take an exciting tour through the development of Western music. This new online class merges the history of composers and their works with engaging video performances. It also provides audio playlists and recommendations for building your own listening library of classical music.

We designed this course for students without any musical training. But it can also provide a robust historical guide for music students wanting to connect the dots between periods, composers, instruments, and performance styles.

The course could fill a fine arts elective for high school students, provide a handy chronological reference for parents who want curated playlists for family listening, or serve as a pre- or post-concert guide to your next family musical outing.

  • In-depth written materials on each musical period and composer of note through the beginning of the twentieth century
  • High-quality performances of the music
  • Quizzes and research projects
  • Audio and video playlists and recommended recordings

Wonderful tips and suggestions for getting started. Not your average “Here is a piece by Composer XYZ.” and that’s it.

  2. Kate B (verified owner)

Incredible music history information. We learned so much!

  3. Lisa N (verified owner)

Loving the quality and breadth of the music my student is being exposed to. She often shares what she’s learning in this class with me.

  4. Dana M (verified owner)

We love the Story of Great Music course!

  5. Sarah F (verified owner)

It was a lot of reading on the screen. We didn’t like that as well. It was a “no man’s land” for us in that the student that didn’t have a lot of music thought the theory was impossible to understand. The music child found the class to be redundant to what he knew and not very exciting.

  6. Veronica B (verified owner)

Usually I find lots of mistakes in descriptions of Early Music, but this time I didn’t feel like punching the screen.

  7. Michelle K (verified owner)

just a little to advanced for daughter
