Orson Welles features great stars of the theatre and Hollywood in engrossing adaptations of classic plays and novels, as well as adaptations of popular motion pictures.

The Campbell Playhouse, a continuation of The Mercury Theatre On The Air, was sponsored by Campbell Soup as a direct result of the success of Welles’ broadcast of War of the Worlds in 1938. Welles directed and starred in the show, which aired live on CBS from 1938-1940.
