About Jean Louise

Jean Louise Barnes is a college senior studying English and music. She enjoys reading (mostly Victorian) literature, playing jazz piano, leading worship at her church, and hiking and spending time in nature.

Miss Barnes loves to inspire students with her enthusiasm for arts, humanities, and sciences, both in group and one-on-one!

Tutoring: biology, music history, English, studying skills

Miss Barnes facilitates Devotional Biology, Physical Science, and General Science in our Membership. She is currently working on expanding our support of the biology course by creating fun lab explainer videos!

Jean Louise’s Expertise

• Biology: Understanding the big picture of Biblical creation as well as the particular vocabulary of this branch of science.
• English: Reading comprehension, literary analysis, paper research and writing.
• Music History: Connecting the dots between movements, terms, and appreciation of great performances.
• Study Skills: Taking notes, reviewing effectively, preparing for quizzes and tests, and managing longer papers and projects.

How Tutoring Works

1. Choose the amount of tutoring time to purchase using the drop-down menu above and Add to Cart.
2. After check out, you will receive an immediate email with a link to schedule the appointment(s) on the tutor’s calendar.
3. Your tutor may be in touch with additional information ahead of the appointment.

How Much Time Do I Need?

The short answer is “It depends.” When you book your appointment, you will also be given a short form where you can specify the project(s) or areas you want to focus on with your student, as well as anything else you want to tell us about the circumstances, context, or needs your student might have.

For your first session, expect to use 15 minutes of the hour going over your intake questions and developing a strategy for meeting your student’s needs. There may need to be revisions of this strategy during parts of subsequent sessions. This is to give you the opportunity to develop a relationship with the tutor with your student’s success in mind.

Our program intends to spend time working with you and your student, but everything must happen during these paid sessions. If you have any questions about this, please contact our program director.
