About Alycia

Alycia Apostolides’ homeschool career started in 2000, when her oldest daughter was in 4th grade. She just graduated her third and youngest daughter in May. Her middle daughter did not graduate from homeschool, but finished her last two years in her dad’s JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) program. Her husband is a retired Air Force officer who currently is the commander of JROTC at their local high school.

Because of his career in the Air Force, they have lived in all four corners of the US, and homeschooled in three different states with various homeschool laws and restrictions.

Of their three daughters, their oldest is biologically theirs, while their two youngest are “heartilogically” theirs. They adopted their middle daughter from China when their oldest was eleven. Their youngest came when their middle was eight. Each of their daughters are amazing and talented girls. And, as she found out, each one has a different learning style and needs.

Her oldest was the easiest to educate as she was very compliant and was happy to be at home “doing school.” She went on to receive her Associates Degree in graphic design and is married with 2 children of her own.

Alycia’s middle one was a bit more “spicy,” and never wanted to sit still. Her teaching style had to change in order to teach her well. She recently gradated college with a degree in Economics, and has commissioned into the Air Force as a finance officer.

Her youngest was adopted at 5, and didn’t speak English when she came home to the Apostolides family. She also has multiple learning difficulties and struggled to learn to read. Alycia thought that teaching her would be easy since she also has dyslexia and learning difficulties. Turns out that her learning issues presented much differently than Alycia’s, which made it a challenge.

Over the past 24 years, Alycia have attended many homeschool conventions, conferences, and workshops. She has even taught classes at a couple of them. She has looked over tons of different curriculum and bought several to accommodate different learning styles. She has learned how to teach in adversity, during their many moves, and through grief.

Alycia’s desire is to help you navigate your way through your homeschooling journey. Her areas of “expertise” are in teaching different learning styles, learning disabilities, and through grief and adversity. She would like to come alongside you to answer any questions, help you find curriculum, plan your year, and encourage and pray for you. You can teach your children! You know their needs and wants better than anyone else.

One of her specialties is matching good books with curriculum. She love children’s literature and always used it to enhance her girls’ learning.

One of her favorite quotes is a short and sweet one. “Where God guides, He provides.” If you seek Him, He will show you how your children can be taught by you. Alycia is here to help!
