Description
American Geography is a live lecture- and picture-based class that will cover basic world geography, the nations of North America, the provinces of Canada, and the 50 United States. Students will take weekly notes on each nation, province, or state, create weekly portfolio entries, take regular geography quizzes, and complete an end-of-year project.
The live course consists of:
- Weekly classes with lectures (see schedule below)
- Weekly homework: notes and portfolio entries graded on a pass/fail basis
- Quizzes: given every few lessons and graded objectively
- Final Project: something creative and hands-on
- Final grade submitted to parents for their records
The class will meet weekly over Zoom on Thursdays, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM Central Standard Time, according to the schedule below.

What if I can’t attend the live Zoom sessions?
All the sessions will be recorded and posted for enrolled families to watch at their convenience. You can use the recordings to review or catch up if you missed a session.
Families who can’t make the schedule above can still participate in the class assignments and group discussions by watching the recordings and submitting the assignments to Dave.
Do you offer refunds on live classes?
We think you will love this class. If you don’t, you may request a refund but must do so no later than before the second scheduled class after your enrollment (purchase) date. This gives you the chance to experience an entire live class session to make your decision.
Credit: 1 Credit in Middle School Geography or Social Studies
Ages: 10-14, grades 5-8 (This course is taught at the middle school level.)
Dave Raymond lives in rural Middle Tennessee with his wife and 6 children where he has taught the humanities for the past 20 years. He teaches the disciplines of history, literature, composition, and Latin through Quiller Tutorials.
